Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 6 Tablespoons salted butter (85 g)
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 cups Lucky Charms cereal (296 g)
Optional Topping
- 2 oz white chocolate bar, finely chopped (57 g)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) pan with butter and set it aside to be ready for the cereal mixture.
- Melt Butter: Place 6 tablespoons of salted butter in a large pot and warm it over low heat until completely melted, ensuring it does not brown.
- Add Marshmallows and Vanilla: Add 10 ounces of mini marshmallows and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract to the melted butter. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth.
- Mix in Cereal: Remove the pot from heat and gently fold in 8 cups of Lucky Charms cereal until every piece is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press into Pan: Immediately transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and press it down gently without packing it tightly, to maintain a light, chewy texture.
- Cool Completely: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature until firm, about 20-30 minutes.
- Optional Chocolate Drizzle: If desired, melt the 2 ounces of white chocolate in the microwave by heating in 20-second intervals, stirring well between each. Drizzle the melted chocolate evenly over the cooled treats for a decorative and flavorful finish.
Notes
- Do not pack the cereal tightly when pressing into the pan to keep the treats light and chewy.
- If white chocolate is not preferred, substitute with milk or dark chocolate as an alternative topping.
- Store treats in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 3 days.
- For easier cutting, allow the treats to cool completely before slicing into squares.
- Using salted butter adds a nice balance of flavor; unsalted butter can be used if preferred.
