Description

This Halloween Spider Web 7 Layer Dip is a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for spooky celebrations. It layers seasoned refried beans, creamy guacamole, and a decorative sour cream spider web, topped with fresh tomato, cheese, olives, and green onions, served with warm tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Layers

  • 48 oz refried beans (three 16 oz cans)
  • 1/4 cup taco seasoning
  • 3 cups guacamole
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Toppings

  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 4 green onions, chopped

For Serving

  • Warmed tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Mix Refried Beans and Seasoning: In a medium bowl, stir together the refried beans and taco seasoning until well combined.
  2. Layer Refried Beans: Spread the seasoned refried beans into a single even layer along the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Add Guacamole Layer: Spread the guacamole evenly over the refried beans layer.
  4. Create Sour Cream Spider Web: Using a squeeze bottle, piping bag, or a Ziploc bag with a snipped corner, pipe two perpendicular lines of sour cream to form a + shape. Divide each section twice more to create 16 sections total. Then, pipe two small half circles across each section to create outer and inner rings of the spider web pattern.
  5. Add Toppings: Arrange the diced tomato, shredded cheese, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions around the perimeter of the dip.
  6. Decorate: Place a plastic spider in the center of the web for a festive Halloween touch.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with warmed tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • To keep the dip fresh before serving, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  • You can substitute vegan sour cream to make this dip dairy-free.
  • Warm the tortilla chips in the oven for a few minutes for extra crispiness.
  • If desired, add a layer of shredded lettuce or chopped cilantro for extra freshness.
  • Use a clean squeeze bottle or piping bag for smooth sour cream lines; a toothpick can help refine the web design.
