Description

Halloween Puppy Chow is a festive and crunchy snack mix featuring Rice Chex cereal coated in a rich blend of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and butter, then dusted with powdered sugar and mixed with colorful Halloween candies like Reese’s mini peanut butter cups, M&M’s, candy eyes, and candy corn. Perfect for parties or an indulgent treat during the spooky season.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Mix

  • 6 cups Rice Chex Cereal

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Coating

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Candy Mix-ins

  • ½ cup Reese’s mini peanut butter cups
  • ½ cup M&M’s or other orange and black chocolate candy
  • ½ cup candy eyes
  • ½ cup candy corn

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cereal: Place 6 cups of Rice Chex Cereal in a large mixing bowl to get ready for coating.
  2. Melt the chocolate mixture: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup chocolate chips, ½ cup creamy peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons unsalted butter. Heat in the microwave for 1 minute, then stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Coat the cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal in the large bowl and stir gently but thoroughly until all the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
  4. Add powdered sugar coating: Transfer the chocolate-coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag. Add 2 cups powdered sugar to the bag, seal it, and toss vigorously to coat the cereal completely with powdered sugar.
  5. Mix in candies: Remove the coated cereal from the bag and pour it into a large bowl. Add ½ cup Reese’s mini peanut butter cups, ½ cup orange and black M&M’s, ½ cup candy eyes, and ½ cup candy corn. Stir gently to combine evenly without breaking the candies.
  6. Store properly: Transfer the finished Halloween Puppy Chow into an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
