Description

These festive Halloween Pretzels combine crunchy pretzel sticks with colorful fondant decorations and delicious melted chocolate to create fun and spooky treats perfect for celebrating the season.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 15-20 pretzel sticks
  • 200 grams white fondant (7 ounces)
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Yellow gel food coloring
  • Purple gel food coloring
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 25 grams chopped white chocolate (2 tablespoons)
  • 25 grams chopped dark chocolate (2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Tray: Line a small tray with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Color Fondant: Wearing gloves, divide the fondant into five golf ball-sized portions (about 40 grams each) plus one marble-sized portion. Tint each portion with a different gel food coloring of your choice, wrap tightly in clingfilm or plastic wrap, and keep covered when not in use to prevent drying.
  3. Create Decorations: Shape the colored fondant into Halloween-themed decorations approximately 1 inch in size, such as candy corn, ghosts, mummies, monsters, pumpkins, bats, and witch hats. Press each decoration onto the top of a pretzel stick to create a ½-inch indentation, then carefully remove the decoration and place it on the prepared tray to dry. Keep the tray covered with a sheet to protect decorations as you work.
  4. Melt Chocolates: In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white and dark chocolate carefully, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth and fully melted.
  5. Assemble Pretzels: Dip one end of each pretzel stick into the melted chocolate. Attach a fondant decoration onto the chocolate-coated end, using dark chocolate for black decorations and white chocolate for white decorations, or choose one chocolate type if preferred. Place the assembled pretzels back on the tray.
  6. Set Chocolate: Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature until firm, which usually takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. Store: Once set, store the Halloween pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature. They can be kept fresh for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • Use gloves when coloring fondant to avoid staining your hands.
  • If you prefer, substitute gel food coloring with liquid food coloring but use less to avoid softening the fondant.
  • Allow fondant decorations to dry thoroughly for best results so they hold their shape when attached.
  • Work quickly when dipping pretzels in chocolate to prevent it from hardening before assembly.
  • If you want a faster setting time, you can place the assembled pretzels in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
  • Store pretzels in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain freshness and decoration quality.
