Description

Halloween Pretzel Monster Eyeballs are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween parties. These bite-sized snacks combine crunchy waffle pretzels with melty Hershey Hugs, colorful M&M’s, and a touch of black decorating gel to create eerie eyeball effects that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 35 waffle pretzels
  • 35 Hershey Hugs
  • 35 M&M’s
  • Red sanding sugar (for sprinkling)
  • Black decorating gel (for detail)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for melting the Hershey Hugs on the pretzels.
  2. Arrange Pretzels: Lay the waffle pretzels out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and enable easy cleanup.
  3. Add Hershey Hugs: Place one Hershey Hug on top of each pretzel, positioning them carefully as they will soften during baking.
  4. Melt the Hugs: Place the cookie sheet in the oven for 7 minutes, watching closely until the Hugs are shiny and soft but not fully melted.
  5. Sprinkle Sugar and Add M&Ms: Quickly sprinkle red sanding sugar over the softened Hugs, then press one M&M, with the “M” side facing down, into the center of each Hug to form the eyeball pupil.
  6. Add Black Gel Detail: Place a very small dab of black decorating gel in the center of each M&M to add detail to the eyeball. Be careful to use only a small amount to prevent slow drying.
  7. Set in Freezer: Transfer the assembled pretzel eyeballs into the freezer for about 1 hour to allow them to set firmly.

Notes

  • Use Hershey Hugs instead of Kisses as they melt better for this recipe.
  • Watch the Hugs carefully in the oven to avoid over-melting.
  • Place the M&M’s ‘M’ side down for best presentation.
  • Use a minimal amount of black decorating gel to ensure it dries properly.
  • Freezing the eyeballs helps them set quickly and maintain their shape.
