Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 1 ripe cantaloupe melon
- 16 ounces blackberries
- 15 ounces canned mandarin oranges, drained
- 8 ounces dark cherries or grapes, pitted
- 6 ounces golden berries, halved
- 4 ripe apricots, pitted and sliced
Dressing
- 1 small orange, juiced and zested (about 1 tablespoon zest and 3 tablespoons juice)
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Prepare Cantaloupe: Cut the cantaloupe into 1-inch slices and use a small pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter to cut out pumpkin shapes for a festive presentation.
- Combine Fruit: In a large bowl, add the cantaloupe pumpkin shapes, blackberries, mandarin oranges, cherries or grapes, golden berries, and sliced apricots.
- Make Dressing: Whisk together the orange zest, orange juice, and honey until well combined and slightly thickened.
- Toss Salad: Drizzle the honey-orange dressing over the mixed fruit and very gently stir to evenly coat all pieces without breaking the fruit.
- Serve: Enjoy the fruit salad immediately for the freshest flavor and best texture.
Notes
- The mini pumpkin cookie cutter adds a festive touch but is optional; you can simply cube the cantaloupe if unavailable.
- You can customize the fruit selection to include your favorite fruits, especially mixing orange and black fruits for a Halloween theme.
- Orange zest and juice add bright acidity; using a Navel orange is great, but Cara Cara or Blood orange are excellent alternatives.
- Ensure your fruit salad includes at least one melon, one citrus, and one berry for balanced flavor and texture.
