Description

These Halloween Donuts are a festive treat perfect for the spooky season, featuring a moist cocoa-flavored donut topped with a sweet glaze and colorful Halloween sprinkles. Easy to make and baked to perfection, they’re ideal for parties or a fun dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Donuts

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk

Glaze & Decorations

  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray two 6-cup donut pans or one 12-cup donut pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
  3. Combine Sugar and Oil: In a large bowl, whisk the sugar and vegetable oil together until the mixture becomes fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Continue beating until fully incorporated and smooth.
  5. Incorporate Flour and Milk: Pour the flour mixture and milk into the wet ingredients and gently fold together until just combined, being careful not to over-mix the batter.
  6. Fill Donut Pans: Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter into each donut cup, filling them evenly.
  7. Bake Donuts: Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the donuts comes out clean. Remove and let cool on a cooling rack.
  8. Prepare Glaze: While the donuts are cooling, whisk together the confectioner’s sugar and milk in a small bowl until you get a smooth, thick glaze consistency.
  9. Glaze Donuts: Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze, then set them on parchment paper.
  10. Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle Halloween sprinkles over the glazed top before the glaze sets to decorate.
  11. Set and Serve: Allow the glaze to fully set on the donuts at room temperature before serving.

Notes

  • Use a silicone donut pan or well-greased metal pan to ensure easy donut removal.
  • Do not over-mix the batter to keep the donuts tender and light.
  • Allow donuts to cool completely before glazing to prevent glaze from melting.
  • Substitute milk with any plant-based milk to make the recipe dairy-free if desired.
  • Store glazed donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
