Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 package Red velvet Oreos (22 cookies)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 7 oz green candy melts
- Red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to keep the truffles from sticking.
- Make Oreo dough: In a food processor, pulse the Red velvet Oreos until they form fine crumbs. Add in the cream cheese and pulse again until a soft dough forms.
- Form balls: Using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon, scoop out the dough and roll it between the palms of your hands to form balls. Place each ball onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all dough is used. Freeze the balls for 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt candy coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring well between each session. If the candy melts are too thick for dipping, stir in 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or any neutral-flavored oil to thin.
- Dip truffles: Use a chocolate dipping fork to coat each Oreo ball evenly with the melted candy. Place the coated truffles back onto the baking sheet.
- Decorate: Place any leftover melted candy into a piping bag and drizzle over the coated truffles. While still wet, place a red heart sprinkle on top of each to represent the Grinch’s heart.
- Set and serve: Refrigerate the truffles for a few minutes until the coating hardens. Enjoy chilled.
Notes
- For best results, use full-fat cream cheese that’s softened to room temperature to ensure smooth dough.
- If you don’t have a food processor, crush Oreos in a sealed plastic bag with a rolling pin.
- Add a small amount of coconut or vegetable oil to candy melts to get a smoother dipping consistency.
- Store leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- You can substitute red heart sprinkles with other festive decorations like edible glitter or green sprinkles depending on the occasion.
