Description

Delight in these festive Grinch Cookies featuring sugary green sugar cookie dough wrapped around a classic Hershey’s Kiss and topped with heart candy sprinkles, perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 17.5 ounces sugar cookie mix
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ teaspoon green gel food coloring

Filling and Topping

  • 18 Hershey’s kisses, unwrapped
  • 18 large heart candy sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a mini muffin pan with baker’s spray or line it with paper cups, then set aside.
  2. Mix Egg and Food Coloring. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and green gel food coloring thoroughly until the mixture is evenly colored.
  3. Combine Dough Ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer on low speed to combine the sugar cookie mix, all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, and the egg-food coloring mixture. Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until the dough is thick and fully combined.
  4. Form Dough Balls. Using a 1½ tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop out dough balls and flatten each into a 3-inch disc. Place a Hershey’s Kiss in the center and carefully fold the dough around it, shaping it into a ball while keeping the kiss upright.
  5. Arrange and Bake. Place the dough balls upright in the prepared mini muffin tin. Bake for 12 minutes, ensuring the dough does not brown and the center is cooked through.
  6. Add Sprinkles and Cool. Immediately after removing from the oven, place one heart candy sprinkle offset to the right of the center on each cookie. Let the cookies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Mixing the green gel food coloring with the egg helps distribute the color evenly throughout the dough.
  • Keep the Hershey’s Kisses upright in the dough and pan to maintain their shape and placement during baking.
  • Do not let the cookies brown; bake just until the centers are set to maintain softness.
  • A mini muffin pan produces the perfect bite-sized cookie cups, but paper liners can help with easy removal.
