Scale
Garlic Pizza Sauce Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1¼ cup whole milk
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, very finely chopped (or 3 teaspoons jarred minced garlic)
- ¼ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
Pizza Ingredients:
- 1 homemade or store-bought pizza crust, 12-14 inches
- 8 oz low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated
- ½ cup garlic pizza sauce (from above)
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Garnish:
- 2 tablespoon fresh basil, chiffonade
Instructions
- Make the Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and continue whisking for about 2 minutes, making sure not to brown it. Slowly whisk in the milk and keep whisking until the mixture is smooth, thick, and bubbly, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add sea salt, black pepper, and finely chopped garlic, then whisk to combine. Stir in the parmesan cheese until just melted. Remove from heat and let it cool. You can also cover and refrigerate the sauce for up to 5 days.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450ºF (232ºC).
- Prepare the Pizza Crust: Roll out your homemade or store-bought pizza crust to fit a 12-14 inch pizza pan. Place it on the pan, then brush the crust with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning evenly over the surface.
- Assemble the Pizza: Spread the cooled garlic pizza sauce evenly over the crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese evenly on top of the sauce.
- Bake the Pizza: Bake the assembled pizza in the preheated oven for 12 minutes, or until the crust is cooked through and the cheeses are melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil chiffonade. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can use a rectangular baking sheet if preferred; cut the pizza into squares or breadstick-style rectangles.
- Serve this pizza with a fresh side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- If using jarred minced garlic instead of fresh, measure out 3 teaspoons.
- Allow the garlic sauce to cool completely before spreading to avoid soggy crust.
- The pizza crust can be homemade or store-bought depending on your preference and time availability.
