Description

Boonanas are a fun and spooky frozen banana treat perfect for Halloween. These ghost-shaped banana pops are coated in vanilla yogurt and decorated with mini chocolate chips to create cute ghost faces. Easy to make and freezer-friendly, they make a delightful and healthy snack for kids and party guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 24 mini chocolate chips
  • 8 popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bananas: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat. Peel the bananas and cut each banana in half crosswise to make 4 pieces per banana, totaling 8 pieces. Carefully insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each banana piece and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Freeze the bananas: Place the baking sheet with banana pieces in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the bananas are completely frozen.
  3. Coat with yogurt: Pour the vanilla yogurt into a tall glass. Dip each frozen banana piece into the yogurt to fully coat it, then place it back on the baking sheet.
  4. Add facial features: Immediately place 3 mini chocolate chips on each yogurt-coated banana to create eyes and a mouth, forming a ghost face.
  5. Final freeze: Return the decorated bananas to the freezer for an additional 20 minutes or until the yogurt coating is firm.
  6. Serve or store: Enjoy the frozen ghost bananas immediately or store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Notes

  • Use a Silpat mat or parchment paper to prevent bananas from sticking to the baking sheet.
  • The yogurt coating should be thick and cold to create a good shell; refrigerate the yogurt if it’s too runny before dipping.
  • Adjust the number of chocolate chips if more detailed faces are desired.
  • These treats are perfect for kids and can be made in advance for Halloween parties.
  • If desired, substitute vanilla yogurt with a dairy-free or vegan yogurt to accommodate dietary restrictions.
