Hey there, I’m Lucy!
I’m Lucy Anderson, the recipe developer and home cook behind CooksbyLucy. I’ve been cooking seriously for nine years, but my love for being in the kitchen started much earlier. Growing up, I discovered that cooking brought joy not just to me, but to everyone around my table. My family has always been my biggest encouragement, genuinely enjoying the meals I prepared and motivating me to keep experimenting and improving.
I launched CooksbyLucy this year after spending time in online cooking forums where I connected with other passionate home cooks. I loved the exchange of ideas, tips, and recipes in those communities, and I realized I wanted to create my own space to share the recipes I’d developed and tested in my kitchen. What started as a way to organize and share my favorite dishes has grown into a comprehensive recipe collection that helps home cooks across the country.
What You’ll Find Here
CooksByLucy features a wide variety of recipes, with a focus on American comfort food and everyday cooking. Whether you’re looking for weeknight dinners, baked goods, holiday dishes, or something new to try, you’ll find tested recipes that deliver consistent results.
Every recipe I publish has been:
- Tested multiple times in my own Flora, Illinois kitchen
- Written with clear, step-by-step instructions suitable for cooks at any skill level
- Developed using ingredients available at standard grocery stores
- Adjusted based on real feedback from family and readers
I believe good cooking doesn’t require fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients. My approach is straightforward: use quality ingredients, follow reliable techniques, and don’t overcomplicate things. The best meals are often the simplest ones, made with care.
My Cooking Philosophy

I’ve learned that consistency matters more than complexity. I test each recipe multiple times, noting what works and what doesn’t, so you can trust that when you follow my instructions, you’ll get the results you expect. I pay attention to common questions and potential trouble spots, including those details in my recipes to help you succeed.
I also stay connected to the cooking community online, where I continue to learn from other home cooks and share what I’ve discovered in my own kitchen.
Beyond the Kitchen
I live in Flora, Illinois with my husband and our daughter. When I’m not cooking or developing recipes, I enjoy tending to my garden and traveling to discover new food traditions and flavors. These experiences often inspire variations on classic recipes that I bring back to my kitchen.
My family remains my most honest recipe testers. If a dish makes it onto CooksbyLucy, it’s passed their approval first.
Let’s Connect
I love hearing from readers about how recipes turn out in your kitchen. Have questions about a recipe or need substitution suggestions? I read every message.
